Combining Married 2 Magic with a Transformation Theme

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

When Dawn mentioned that the theme of this year’s annual dinner was transformation, we were thrilled! Transformation is our specialty. We were able to blend both the visual and psychological transformations that happen in our show, with the positive transformations that the Grant County Community Foundation make in the lives of individuals and the community.

We had a fabulous time and Dawn did such a great job of integrating the transformation theme.

She even had chocolate magic wands for dessert.

Wardrobe malfunction…and the quick, clever solution

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

Many times people ask us if anything ever goes wrong in a performance and if it does, what do we do. Here is a great story told by Christian for all the people that wonder about this question.

We were performing at a corporate event and enjoying a delicious meal with our clients before the show. We were to go on in about 10 minutes and Katalina excused herself to make a few last minute adjustments to her costume. This usually means slipping the wireless microphone in her dress and connecting it. Five minutes before we were to go on, I went to check on her and found we were in code red. There was a wardrobe malfunction. The zipper on her dress had exploded.

I stood behind her trying a variety of methods to coax the zipper back into doing its job. Nothing worked. Katalina could only give me ideas since the zipper is on the back of the dress. I could feel the hopelessness of the situation creeping up on us. Then it hit me. Men have no idea how to fix a zipper on a woman’s dress. I told Katalina to wait there . . . I have an idea. I ran out and asked one of our gracious hosts for help. Sharla came to the rescue.

Since it was time for the show, I went on without Katalina. I explained to the audience why Katalina was not on stage with me and that she was being “worked on”. I performed some impromptu miracles while we all waited. Even though the audience was very nice and we were having fun, I was sweating. I could not think of anyway that anyone could save that dress. Just when I was wondering how we were going to get through the night, Katalina and Sharla entered the room and gave me a thumbs up.

The show started and things looked great. About 10 minutes into the show, I got to see the back of Katalina’s dress for the first time. I burst out laughing. Katalina stopped the show and told the audience about our crazy situation and turned to show the audience the “quick fix”; it was duct tape. The audience roared with laughter and the show went great.

After the show many in the audience came up to marvel at this miracle fix that Sharla had engineered in 10 minutes. We had a fantastic time talking with many of audience after the show. Of course we had to get a picture of this miracle fix with the miracle maker, Sharla. Too bad Sharla was not around for Janet just before the Superbowl.

Corporate Entertainment Aboard the Madam Carroll

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

madam carroll 1.jpg

Picture the radiant lights of a glowing sunset shining through the windows of the Madam Carroll as it moves through the still waters of Lake Freeman.

What a sensational place to perform! We thoroughly enjoyed performing our Married 2 Magic show at a private corporate event while cruising around the lake.

The cruise ship Madam Carroll, located in Monticello, Indiana holds about 200 people for dinner. The journey was from 6-9 pm giving ample time for dinner, entertainment, and a walk on deck to enjoy the beautiful night.

We recommend the Madam Carroll for corporate events, weddings, and any special occasions. Visit their website www.madamcarroll.com for more information.

Christian & Katalina Corporate Entertainment at Hoosier Park

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

We performed 4 hours of mingling magic at Hoosier Park. This was our first time performing at a live race track.

The guests loved it!

Not only did they enjoy live horse racing, they were having a blast watching the close-up magic and mind reading. Although people have seen some magic on TV, most have not seen any close-up magic; it is extremely powerful!

Magic definitely leaves a lasting impression and provides a topic of conversation for days to follow. That’s why magic is perfect for corporate meetings, conferences, and events.

Corporate Fun

Monday, February 4th, 2008

Christian and I had a wonderful time in Batesville Indiana! What a fantastic group of people! They were a super audience: nice, kind, and fun. We had 2 corporate shows and we had such a good time that Christian didn’t want the fun to end. He performed close-up magic after our stage show not only for our corporate clients, but for others enjoying a meal/drinks in the bar area.

Mavris Arts and Event Center

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

We just finished a corporate event at the Mavris Arts and Event Center just a few blocks from downtown Indianapolis.
mavris center.jpg

As you can see, it is beautiful with all wood floors, brick, and wood columns; it is a great atmosphere. It is a joy to walk into a building and be inspired by what you see. John Mavris is very passionate about his center and his life and it shows!

You can find out more about the Mavris Arts and Event Center by going to www.mavrisculturalcenter.net.

We were cleaning up after the show and there were some people still enjoying the evening, so Christian entertained them with some card tricks. They loved it! There is nothing more powerful than seeing magic happen right in front of your eyes. Brad, who you see in the picture, was blown away and his co-workers may have to watch him so that his brain doesn’t explode from analyzing too much!

Hitting the I’s!

Friday, October 12th, 2007

We are performing in Indiana, Iowa, and Illinois - the three I’s. We started the week out by performing “Magic at the Museum” - the Indianapolis Children’s Museum - for a corporate event/trade show. What a beautiful location. Take a look at this picture.

childrens museum big pic blog.jpg

On the upper floor were the trade show booths where everyone could look down onto the main floor and watch all of the action. We were located on the main floor on a stage next to our clients and the mingling/dining area. We were the MC’s and entertainment for the event. It worked out fantastic.

Then we headed off to Iowa and Illinois to mesmerize the college students with our Mind Tripping show. Because we have been to many of these schools before, some students requested that Christian perform the things they remembered from last year specifically for their friends who missed it!

Theatrical Entertainment with Married 2 Magic

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

if blog 4.jpg

We just finished a bunch of shows at the American Cabaret Theater in Indianapolis. What a whirlwind. We flew in from Florida where we are currently on tour performing at colleges and had a show that same night and the next night and the next. Although we are exhausted, it was a great experience for two reasons: we love performing on a beautiful, historic stage and it was a public performance. We rarely get the opportunity to perform for the public as most of our performances are for private corporate events or colleges. Theater crowds are fantastic because they want to be entertained!

if blog 2.jpg

We love bringing audience members on stage. You never know how they will act once under the bright lights, but when you get a lively one, the audience loves it!

Here is a picture of our piece “Date with Destiny”. It was a great hit and got rave reviews.

We love to get feedback about our shows and here is one of the comments about Married 2 Magic:

“I left this show scratching my head — in a good way. Christian and Katalina, a husband and wife duo, did a marvelous job of wowing their audience with many a magic trick up their sleeves — or hidden in a box, or crumpled up in some paper, or, sometimes, seemingly out of nowhere. The ACT is a great venue for a show like this, with its table seating, making things more personal. There were many instances when Christian or Katalina came down to pick out volunteers to interact in the show and that added some neat variety. I was picked, which was great fun. C & K have a lively sense of humor — at times corny and cheesy, yes, but they kept us laughing. “ Chantal Incandela

Now we are back in Florida continuing our college entertainment with Mind Tripping.

Married 2 Magic buzz in Iowa!

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

We just returned from 4 days in Des Moines, Iowa! We were very excited to be able to perform Married 2 Magic and meet some superb people. Des Moines is a wonderful city - everyone is so nice. It has a beautiful downtown area that is being revitalized.

iowa tv for blog.jpg

We were featured on Channel 13 News “Today in Iowa” to help promote the show. Dan Winters, the anchor, was great. He was stunned at the magic!

We debuted “Date with Destiny”! The reception was fantastic. We look forward to showing it to all of you!

Christian is always the performer - he loves to entertain. After the show, we were enjoying our Snakebites at a British pub, when we ran into some guests who had been to our show. Christian went over and showed them some close-up magic to make their evening just a bit more magical.

We are off to Minneapolis next week. Stay tuned!

Thank-you Florida!

We are sad to say that our Florida tour is over! We had an exceptional, thoroughly rewarding time. And we are not saying this just because we enjoyed 80 degree weather and avoided the 2 foot high snow at our home in Indianapolis! It was really because the people who attended our shows were so wonderful. Christian was in high form bantering back and forth with audience members. At one show, we had a 96 year old woman come up on stage and she was amazing. Sharp as a tack, quick witted, and just full of life. What an inspiration!Thank-you to all of the resorts and we hope to see you again very soon!

We were also very thrilled to meet up with an old friend, Janna.

janna 1.jpgJanna, Jordan, Taylor, and Katalina

The last time we saw her and her husband Tony was in Germany. Tony is currently a Major in the Transportation Corps of the US Army and is deployed to Iraq. Janna and her two adorable girls were visiting her parents in Florida. She is currently at Fort Drum, NY and she was very happy to leave the blizzard that was going on in her neck of the woods. We had a great time catching up and we hope to see her, the girls and Tony when he returns from Iraq.

The Florida Tour

We are very excited to be on tour through Florida. If you read our last post, you know we went from Vermont over to New York and the Adirondacks. Our last college show was in Malone, NY (only 12 miles from Canada) and we drove through the beginning of the blizzard, but escaped the 6 foot snow by hours. It was a long drive, but knowing that we were headed towards warm sunshine made the journey seem shorter. We arrived in Florida at 2 am and had a show at 1 pm the same day. That is the life of entertainers.

It was so nice to smell the warm air of Florida! A few days ago we could smell the orange blossoms and they are so fragrant. If you have never smelled an orange blossom it is one of the most extraordinary smells in the world. But more than anything, we enjoy the wonderful audiences in Florida. They are always as warm as the sunshine. The above picture is from the Stonecrest Resort. People at all of the resorts are so nice and helpful and a great audience. As soon as we mention that we are from Indianapolis, fellow Hoosiers burst into spontaneous applause. And after the show, when Katalina mentions that she grew up in Michigan, fellow Michiganders throw up their hand to show what part of Michigan they were from (only Michiganders understand this!). We are having an incredible time and will keep you posted on more of our Florida adventures.
