Family friendly corporate entertainment

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Christian and I just performed at a corporate event where attendees ranged from the age of 5 to 65. Our show is totally clean, so we do not have to worry about changing our comedy or language, but the question is whether the type of entertainment is something that all ages will enjoy.

Generally it is a good idea to have different entertainment for children and for adults, however, we have found that both groups can enjoy the same show. We truly believe that children’s ability to grasp concepts and enjoy more complex entertainment is under-appreciated.

We performed our Mind Tripping show at this particular event and everyone loved it. We use audience participation in our show and when there are children in the audience, we can substitute children for the adults. The key is for the entertainer to assess their audience and be able to adapt as necessary. Since we are seasoned performers with lots of experience, we were adept at making this happen.

We love performing at colleges and universities that have a high percentage of theater, music, and art majors. The students are very emotive and are familiar with live entertainment. They enjoy the whole performing process since many of them are performers themselves.

New York Mind Tripping

Monday, February 18th, 2008

We are once again in New York. It really is a beautiful state, especially around the Finger Lakes region and the Adirondacks. Many of the activity directors have become our friends over the years as we spend time at their campuses each year. It is nice to go back to a place where we know that not only are the activities directors great people, but the students look forward to seeing us again and it feels like home.

One of the things that we like to do is to get feedback from the students. This is a great way to interact with them after they have just seen things that they cannot explain. We get to find out what they thought were the strongest pieces; the ones that really blew them away. We also get to find out what they enjoyed most about our show. Here are a couple quotes from students:

“I doubted you guys every step of the way, but you always proved me wrong. Good Job!!!” Sheria

“Great job! Second time around I still can’t figure it out.” Amanda

“More than the magic, I loved the interaction with the crowd.” Jess

Robin and Ralph are icons at TC3. Between the two of them they have over 50 years of experience in student activities! They are great people and we always enjoy seeing them. Congratulations on the new student center. It is beautiful and we know it will be a success.

After seeing our Mind Tripping show, here is what one student said: “It was insane and amazing.” - Mysiah

Mind Tripping Wrap-up in NY and CT

We just finished our last college entertainment run for 2007. We spent the last week in New York and Connecticut. Unfortunately we hit the 1st big snow storm of the season and what would have normally been a 13 hour drive ended up being 17 hours. Thats the life of an entertainer. We are thankful we are home and are ready to jump into our wonderful corporate entertainment events for the holiday season.

We finished our shows with a bang. As usual, students were challenging us in their quest to understand the strange and unexplainable phenomenon going on in our show. The look of stunned faces never gets old. It is a good indication we are doing something amazing.

We often have a conversation about the psychology of watching magic. There are 2 types of people: those who have to figure out how something is done and those who delight in the illusions. Of course it is much more fun to perform for the first group than the second. But you have to be able to perform for all kinds of people and it does keep us on our toes!

What a great way to end our tour and begin our Thanksgiving holiday.

Samantha loved our show. She said she was so confused her brain was working overtime!

We also had Liz tell us that we remind her of Morticia and Gomez from the Addams family. This is a big compliment and we appreciate it.

We hope that everyone has a great Thanksgiving! Enjoy your turkey and the time you spend with family and friends.

Married Magical Couple Mind Tripping in Maine

Friday, November 16th, 2007

Last week we spent some time in Portland Maine.

Here I am with the some dental hygiene students who loved the show.

One of my favorite places to visit while in Maine is a company called Stonewall Kitchen. They make the most delicious jams, sauces, and salad dressings. We went to the company headquarters where there is a restaurant and store. I have stocked up on lots of goodies!

Phenomenon across Pennsylvania

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

Whew! We just finished a phenomenal week performing Mind Tripping at colleges across Pennsylvania. What a diverse group! We performed at both 1000 student private colleges all the way to the 45,000 + students at Penn State.

Enjoy the many pictures and quotes from last week’s Mind Tripping shows.

Nothing beats a sensational, electrifying crowd!

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

We love performing and we love performing even more when the crowd is really really into it! It was a great college entertainment week in that we performed for two great schools: TWC and SCAD. We video taped the shows and it was exciting for us to see the audience reactions for a second time. They make the show. There is nothing better than watching your friends on stage freak out!

Angie, Student Activities Director, said: “Fantastic Show. Christian and Katalina are great to work with. The students loved every minute of the show.”

Demetra, a student, said “You guys blew my mind. I’ve been mind freaked. Come back soon!”

Damian, a student, said “That was crazy stuff. Kudos to ya’ll.”

Hitting the I’s!

Friday, October 12th, 2007

We are performing in Indiana, Iowa, and Illinois - the three I’s. We started the week out by performing “Magic at the Museum” - the Indianapolis Children’s Museum - for a corporate event/trade show. What a beautiful location. Take a look at this picture.

childrens museum big pic blog.jpg

On the upper floor were the trade show booths where everyone could look down onto the main floor and watch all of the action. We were located on the main floor on a stage next to our clients and the mingling/dining area. We were the MC’s and entertainment for the event. It worked out fantastic.

Then we headed off to Iowa and Illinois to mesmerize the college students with our Mind Tripping show. Because we have been to many of these schools before, some students requested that Christian perform the things they remembered from last year specifically for their friends who missed it!

Blew them away at Bethel College!

Friday, October 5th, 2007

We had an absolutely fabulous time performing our Mind Tripping show at Bethel College! The place was packed. Students were very interactive, really enjoying themselves and having a blast.

Nothing can compare to an audience that is excited to see your show and is friendly, fun, and full of energy! You feed off the crowd and they in turn get more into it. And Christian’s strength is his quick wit and ability to interact with the audience on the fly. His years in comedy clubs and as a keen observer of people really makes for a very personal and unbelievable experience.

Thank-you Bethel for being a wonderful audience!

We had a wonderful time entertaining the community, faculty and students of UNCP. We were located next to the University Center’s booth where we entertained crowds and provided a fun, festive atmosphere to the entire event.

Part of our mission was to inform everyone about events at the University Center and we were able to do this very easily because we honed our skills during previous trade shows. Christian is such a natural at getting people’s attention and bringing crowds together.

Smokin’ Hot Mind Tripping in the Heat!

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

david crowd 2.jpg

For the past 2 weeks we have been performing Mind Tripping at colleges in the South: North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida welcoming the college students back to school. We decided to turn up the heat to match the temperature! Our Mind Tripping Show has been smokin’ hot!

One of the reasons we were so smokin’ hot was because it was triple digit temperatures while we were in Georgia and while in Florida we spent 4 hours performing our miracles outside in over 90 degree weather.

Here are some comments from the college students we entertained:

“Wayyyyy cool!!! I hope you both come back soon”. C. Ray

“Thanks for a great way to begin the fall semester and for setting the stage for a great year!” Michael Stewart

“You guys did awesome!!” Justin T. Nix

We were interviewed on a local radio station where we performed some mind reading and blew the DJ’s away. It was a blast.

We now fly back to Indianapolis for a quick theater run!

Mind Tripping Theater Style

Sunday, August 12th, 2007

We just finished performing at the Ritz Theater in Minneapolis. We were rated by our audiences and got 4.5 stars out of 5!

ritz both.jpg

As we mentioned before, we have been working on our signature piece, Date with Destiny and we were able to perform it on a fantastic stage!

Here are some of the reviews:

“How good is good? Mind Trip is the best!” by Nick n Rosie Heille.

“How DID they do that??!!” by Florence Brammer. “This couple did some amazing magic that really leaves you scratching your head. There’s no distracting and annoying Chris Angel-type hipster drivel here.”

We enjoy the times when we perform our Married 2 Magic and Mind Tripping at theatres and performing arts centers. It provides a larger theatrical opportunity and ability to really play with professional lighting and sound.

eagle magic.jpg

We were also able to visit the famous Eagle Magic Store. We were able to hear stories from owner, Larry Kahlow, who is a wealth of knowledge! Eagle Magic has been open since 1900. Larry and Jennifer were very kind to attend our show and it was a real treat to have the opportunity to spend time with them. Check out the Eagle magic website: Eaglemagicstore.com or stop by and visit when in Minneapolis.

kathe wolfhart.jpg

While in Minneapolis, Katalina had to visit the Kathe Wolfhart store in Stillwater MN. It is the only store in the United States. It has German gifts such as nutcrackers, Christmas ornaments, music boxes and of course Katalina’s favorite: the smoking men.
